So I sat down on the orange *Scape carpet, bottle of Oolong tea by my side and Ellie Goulding on my iPhone and started to think about the very serious business of fashion resolutions. Now, here's where most writers segue into how they make resolutions that they never keep etc and tempted as I am to do the same, I shall resist - assuming this one sentence doesn't count? Instead I'm going to send out my positive karmic energy that I will fulfill my resolutions. After all, I did a half marathon this year so hey, I have a great track record (doyougetthepun? doyou? doyou? heh)
So in case you can't read the spider scribble that is my handwriting - here's where I spell it out for you
1. Be a better fashion blogger
In my universe, that means being more regular in my updates and also just generally trying to manage the many facets of social media properly - seriously, I go into a headspin when I think about twitter, facebook, blogger, lookbook, tumblr, formspring etc.2. Expand my 'grown up' wardrobe
Also, I'm going to create a proper schedule for posts on my blog (yep - all OFFICIAL and stuff) so if there's anything you'd like to read more of - give me a shout out!
Whenever I have an investor, I scramble to think what to wear. I never properly went to work - except for internships at stuffy law firms which involved wearing boring penguin wear everyday - so I don't have that wardrobe of proper 'work clothes'. I have one dress which I wear for my 'proper' investor meetings and one dress for my 'casual' investor meetings. Thats it. Yes, shame on me!3. Buy local more often! Parco next next!
There really isn't any excuse. Oftentimes, local brands are just as affordable as the average topshop and the pieces are much more unique at that. Plus theres the added dimension that they just FEEL special cause you know you have this 'designer' piece rather than another cookie cutter outfit. Like I have this gorgeous Sabrina Goh dress which has definitely made its money back while my multiple cheap H&M buys lie at the back of my closet.4. Buy less shoes.
This year, I bought 12 pairs of shoes - thats ONE PAIR PER MONTH! No wonder I have friends who tell me they never see me wear the same pair of shoes twice! But sadly, much as I delight when I hear this compliment, my groaning shoe cabinet and thoughtful mother do not. Trade off shoes for clothes - this is probably going to be the hardest resolution but I'm going to try. Wish me luck!5. Start tailoring/editing my clothes
Theres a whole basket of clothes in my room which I need to tailor - be it nip the waist in an inch or shorten the hem by several. I promise I shall never buy clothes with the intention of making a few small modifications - it never works ...6. Luxuriate more in my fashion magazine stash
I buy magazines like I buy candy with a particular weakness of UK editions of Vogue and Elle as well as local magazine Her World. Sadly, after purchasing them, I quickly flip through the pages and then toss it to the growing 'archival' collection - I swear, I'm going to be one of those grannies surrounded by Kong Guan biscuit tins with my most beloved necklaces, bookshelves filled with magazines and many wardrobes going "My precious... my precious"
Resolution: have a proper sit down sunday morning fashion mag + coffee session ^^ sounds good no?
What are your fashion resolutions?
